Joseph E. Scherger, MD, MPH
I welcome all of you to this blog to further the best information for living a healthy lean and fit life! The blog will build off the Lean and Fit book so please read that first, especially the Revised and Expanded Edition just published on Amazon in December, 2016.
On these pages I will provide the latest information on healthy nutrition, the cornerstone of being lean and fit. I once thought exercise was most important but the current research suggest that a healthy low carbohydrate, moderate protein and high fat diet from healthy sources makes up about 80% of a healthy lifestyle. When you eat this way, you feel better, deal with all the stresses in life better, and have more energy.
Of course all lean and fit persons live in the “Kingdom of the Fit” as described in the book and devote at least 5 of the 168 hours in a week to some physical activity, both movement and muscle strengthening. The options for this are vast and we will explore many of them here.
I welcome comments, your personal stories and “guest” blogs. These will be reviewed by me before publication so that our voice remains consistent. Fresh ideas and information are welcome, and we will all grow in wisdom from each other.
This is a public space for comment so none of the information shared here is confidential. Soon I will launch a membership service for confidential personalized coaching and advising on a lean and fit lifestyle. That service is still in development and will come out sometime in 2017.
My goal is to have a new blog here about every week, and I hope the comments come in daily! Again welcome to a space where your quest to becoming and staying lean and fit is supported.
